I mean has anyone found a roomate off this website? Are there other sites to find roomates?

its just a facebook group; its not an official place to meet roommates. most apartment complexes have their own roommate matching services. campus auto-assigns them.

Hey guys I am looking for a roomate to live in the dorms. I dont really have a preference on which hall or anything like that. I just need air conditioning and no communal bathrooms. lol.

I know UF has a dorm room finder, but, I would like to get to know the person before. Let me know if you are intersted and I will tell you about me. Thanks!

Are you a guy or a girl lol? Because I’m also looking for a roomie, but I’m not sure if you saying “hey guys” is to guys or as in “hey you people?”

Hey, i don’t really have a hall preference either but air conditioning is a priority. I’m going to be a first time in college freshman for fall 2011 and i would love to talk and figure out if we would be a good match. my e-mail is emilie.maxine@gmail.com message me anytime :)

okay wow now I feel like a complete dummy. lol. I am a girl. I am looking for a summer or fall roomate. My email is catch.me.quick0@gmail.com if anyone is interested. Maybe we can switch facebooks too? Thanks again!

has anyone heard about the online room selection?

[Room Selection - UF | Housing & Residence Education](http://www.housing.ufl.edu/liveon/roomselection.php)

At the bottom of the page, it shows the timetable for selecting your room. Apparently this Fall we can actually select the room that we would like. They dont pick it for us based on our given preferences. And it is done based on how soon you turned in your 25 dollars.

This way, if someone turned their application in late, but their roomate turned it in earlier, it would go by the earliest date. Generally it is by the latest date. Anybody else hear anything about this?

UMcane3435, I actually have the same question.

If anyone could answer it, it would be greatly appreciated. How are we supposed to know when we can do the room selection?

There is a national room mate referral company called ROOMBUG. They happen to be based in Gainesville. I called them the other day and the owner is supposed to be calling me back next week.

As soon as I get the details from him on how his service works? I will post them on here. Or better yet maybe I will have him start a new thread on here so we can ask him any questions that we each may have.

chinadoll, this is the link to check --go all the way to the bottom of the page to see when you will sign up for housing for fall (summer b is assigned i believe). it is based on when you got your $25 housing fee in when after you applied to UF.

jankrav do you know if a date of Oct 25th is late or about average for housing applications?

Also I guess the $200 that is due now does not factor into our room selection?

thanks for your help.

im a male junior at uf, if anyone wants to make more friends or meet new ppl, send a message

gator4ever, I think Oct. 25 is probably average-late for housing apps. S got his in by mid september…I’d say mid october is still average. Your best bet is to get a roommate with an earlier housing application date. Last year, my S had a much earlier day in May to pick fall housing and went online and secured a room in Broward. He held a space in the two person room for his best friend who had a much later housing date. That friend went on with in 24 hours, accepted the roommate hold, and it all worked out. Maybe you could find a roommate on roombug/facebook or on this blog with an earlier housing date to secure you a spot? Even when my son went on at a very early date, he was surprised that there wasn’t that much to choose from, esp. in broward/jennings.

jankrav the date that you are referring is the date that on the confirmation email from the housing dept confirming that he paid the $25.00 is that correct? the date on that email is Oct 28 2010.

this housing date has nothing to do with the $200 housing contract right?

Sorry for all the dumb questions. thanks

Any gay, academically minded males looking for a roommate?

I’m a bro looking for another bro. Work hard, play harder. I’m not gay. I hope that’s clear. I assume any possible roomate at UF will be somewhat intelligent so I’m not too worried about that. I’m going to be lifting weights, playing sports, and some video games. Studying comes first…most of the time. Email me if you’re looking for a roomate: ajnolz93@aol.com
