Hi. I also applied for CLAS transfer for spring 2019. I was wondering what kinds of additional documents did you guys have to send? My portal asked me for my transcripts including HS ones.
Also they recently transferred my application to a new portal and I’m so confused because the new portal is asking for a lot more stuff than they originally did. Did this happen to anyone too? Getting a new application portal?
@050606050105 I haven’t heard of that. What do you mean by a new portal? Maybe it’s in regards to the major you’re applying to, what major are you applying to?
Also I just called CLAS and they told me they probably won’t start resleasing admission decisions until after the Sept 15th deadline which seems odd since some people have gotten their acceptance already. I guess it’s just a waiting game now
@faithandpatience I applied to English. And my application was transferred to a new portal.
@faithandpatience That is strange. I was told that CLAS uses rolling admissions. Maybe they confused you for a freshman applicant?
I called today. Everything has been processed and my application should be referred to CLAS once they determines my eligibility. Hopefully soon!
@HenryWasRight Thats awesome!!! YAY! We just have to keep hanging in there
@050606050105 that’s really weird, I’ve never heard of that. Have you tried calling and asking them about it?
@faithandpatience I’ll definitely call them. I attached the link to the two portals that come up when I try to check transfer application https://admissions.ufl.edu/appstatus
Let me know if your application got converted to the new system too.
Congrats. Have they offered you a financial aid package yet?
The Admissions Office had “The Great Flood of Criser Hall” which took out 2 floors of the building and the electrical panel causing power to be cut on the first day of classes. The admissions staff were scattered to open spaces all over campus and are hoping to be able to move back to their respective areas tomorrow. Additionally, their new application system went live over Labor Day weekend, which is why you are seeing the new portal. It has much better functionality and everything should be back to running smoothly soon.
@Melissa96 do you know if I’ll have to send additional documents with the launch of the new portal?
the requirement to be admitted is the same. High school and college transcripts. The residency requests can be a little more granular…
@050606050105 I just called again today to see about the whole portal situation. I was able to get my account set up on there and they told me that that is the new website by which we should check the application status. On the ONE.UF website it said my application had been referred and when i checked the new portal the status was still as received and that i was missing transcripts and stuff to send so I called to find out and they told me that my application has been referred and that the only reason why it appears differently on the new portal is 1. because its brand new and 2. because the admissions officer has to manually go in and input all of that information.
Ok thank you. So we don’t have to send in more documents right? Cause the new portal is asking for a bunch of unofficial transcripts and individual and scores which is weird.
@050606050105 if you sent all of that stuff already you don’t have to do anything just wait until they update everything. If you haven’t sent those stuff send it as soon as you can. Either way I would call and ask if all of those documents have been received to confirm that you don’t have to send anything in just cause they might have them and just not have updated the system yet. That’s what I did just to make sure
Ok. Thank you and good luck.
Thank you! You too! Keep us updated!
Out of curiosity how does UF calculate GPAs for transfer students? Do they use whole grades or hyphenated grades? I also understand that UF does not have grade forgiveness for classes that are taken and then retaken at UF, but do they honor grade forgiveness from other institutions? I.E. if I got an F in one class then retook it and got an A, then went on to get my A.A. and apply to UF, will they calculate both grades into the GPA or just the A? I’m only asking because my self-calculated GPA was a 3.02 assuming hyphenated grades and no grade forgiveness…if they do whole grades and grade forgiveness for transfers then it would be a 3.25…
Ah guys just got accepted to FSU. UF also updated my portal and all of my items have been received. I emailed them and they told me to expect a response in about six weeks. Hoping I get into UF as well and that both schools offer me a great financial aid package.
@050606050105 Congrats on FSU!!
