My oos student has been accepted to Auburn & UGA plus others. Early on received Auburn acceptance and we automatically paid $200 non refundable to be able to put a deposit down on a room, which is hard to get unless you do it right away. Felt the town of Auburn was nice but was too small. Didn’t feel like there was a lot to do around the town unlike Athens. Also, didn’t like their dining options on campus at all, it seems like a debit card to be used at food court type counters. Was awarded merit scholarship $12,000 off per year but see that it’ll cost $500 per semester to be in honors. Still that’s a lot of money to pay in total. Now at UGA honors is free. Was awarded oos tuition waiver plus some money. That being said go see all the campuses. See what feels right to your student. Students are from all over the US at UGA and you’ll see lots of diversity on campus. I copied the following statement about the current freshman class
About 13 percent of the class comes from other states and countries, with the top feeder states outside of Georgia being Texas, North Carolina, Florida, Maryland, Virginia, Tennessee, New York, New Jersey, South Carolina and California.
BTW we visitied Bama on a Saturday when there was an away football game. The place was deserted to the point of kid of eerie. Might be something to think about if your student chooses not to go to an away game.

^ Bama is not deserted on away game days. Everyone is inside watching the game.

I would have thought that if it was a noon game, but it was a 3pm game. It was mid November. Surprised that the gym was being used by only a handful of students, the cafe that’s located downstairs by the honors dorm had a few tables being used. The student store was empty. We went to get a feel for Bama, but seriously was surprised by how quiet it was. We had a private tour and even asked if there was some major 5K or going on somewhere or festival trying to figure where students were. It was just our impression.

My daughter was looking at UGA, Auburn and Alabama as well. We first visited UGA and thought “this could be it”, we both really liked the campus and the area. On a different day we toured Auburn and Alabama, Alabama was OK but after touring Auburn, that was IT, Auburn stole her heart. She loved it ! We researched a lot about each campus, especially sororities. The feeling I was getting about UGA and Alabama was that their sororities were more cut-throat and just didn’t seem like a fit. I keep reading on how you MUST wear your Lilly dresses and channel shoes to rush week or you won’t be considered. I did not see anything like that about Auburn. I kept coming across the word friendly as a description. We live in CA and recently hosted a couple of Auburn girls at our home for the BIG game. They both had friends at UGA and Alabama and confirmed that many of their friends called crying during rush week but that they did not experience that at Auburn. I’m sure they are all good colleges academically and you can’t make a bad choice. Auburn was the best choice for my daughter.

I doubt my daughter is going to want to rush-

OP- if you want pharmacy Auburn seems to be the best choice. You can get a PharmD at AU in 6 years - once you get in to the professional program. I am not sure about UGA but Alabama does not have a pharmacy school. My daughter looked at Alabama, Auburn and South Carolina. She wants to get a PharmD. She ruled out Alabama even with full tuition because she did not want to go to school for 8 years. She ended up choosing South Carolina because they offered a higher scholarship but we really liked Auburn. She does LOVE South Carolina now. Good luck

I think it’s a matter of personal of personal preference. UGA nicer campus. Bama is a bigger school situated in a big town. Auburn is smaller, and more quaint. Academics are roughly equal (depends on program). I went to Auburn for grad school. I’m very proud of being a part of this institution. But, the other schools have pluses and minuses just as Auburn does. All are good schools, but you would have to visit all 3 to make the right decision. If you are a 4 or 5 star football recruit, go to Auburn though…PLEASE! Haha!

UGA has a nicer campus than Bama? Hardly.

Eye of the beholder, I guess? That’s why prospects need to visit each and judge for themselves.
