I am going into my junior year of high school in the fall, and I will be visiting UGA over the summer. I am not from Georgia, so I would need scholarship money to help me attend. I am looking to get the cost down to the level of instate tuition or around 5k over. In my research, I have found that the Classic Scholars is the main OOS scholarship that UGA offers. However, this only covers half the cost between the difference of in-state and out-of-state, so I would still need to find another scholarship (worth around 5k). Can the Classic Scholars be combined with any other scholarships, and if so, what ones would help me get close to my goal? If not, are there other scholarships that are offered to OOS students (or any students in general) that are offered? If the answer is no to both of these questions, what would you recommend that I should do?
Presidential Waiver could get you down there. I remember when I was looking at these awards it was kind of perplexing. Even knowing your stats won’t help, you may have to apply and see. You still have a year, so things will probably change in that time anyway. Good luck! It was high on my D’s list for a time.
Thank you!
Would a 4.5 GPA and 32 act be able to get an oos waiver?
My son had the same stats 2 years ago. He got a small scholarship but no OOS waiver. He did get notified of admission by November. Ended up at Wake Forest…
@jakeolsen11, my daughter had stats similar to yours (over 4.0 gpa, 33 ACT and was a NMF) and did not get offered anything. I did see people with stats lower than this that got Classic, etc so I am not sure what metrics they use to award those. Maybe its regional? We were coming from an adjoining state, so maybe that was the issue. You might just need to apply and see what you get.
