My friend asked me to write a peer recommendation for her, which I certainly don't mind doing. However, I'm not sure what to include- should I write about her academic achievements or write about her on a more personal level? I'm just not really sure what the school is looking for.

I suspect this peer recommendation is for the Foundation Fellowship application right?

The UGA people will have all the academic information already. They'll know your friend is a good student most likely. What you can do to help is her show a side of her that won't come out from the rest of her application.

Write about what makes your friend tick. What motivates her? What's she like as a person? Does she work well with others?

Maybe if there was a particularly important event- say, she led a student protest or stood up for academic honesty in class. Or maybe she always attends and speaks at school-board meetings. Or maybe she's always the first to finish her math homework but immediately goes around and helps other people.

This is also a good chance for you to brag if she's shy about some of the things she's done.

Just some general ideas. Tailor what you write about to your friend's strengths and weaknesses. Good luck!

That helps a lot, thanks!
