UGA Transfer

Hi, I recently was accepted as a UGA transfer for the fall. I am an entering sophomore out of state. I was just wondering if it would be hard transitioning. I know some people there but for this sake, lets say I do not. How hard would it be to make friends as a sophomore transfer? I want to stay off campus but I do not know which apartments are the best. I also do not know who to room with since the people i know there already signed their leases. I guess I wouldnt mind living with randoms first year but I am worried about the possibility of being placed with partying roommates. I have nothing against this as many of my friends do this, but I am paying a lot out of state to transfer here for a particular major so I want to negate as many negatives as I can. I plan on joining clubs, but I am worried that people already have their groups from freshman year. Is it still likely that I can find a friend group fast as a transfer sophomore who might not know anyone before hand? Lastly, how bad is the parking at UGA? I dont want to find an apartment too far away if I cant find a parking spot at school.

Basically:

  1. How hard is it to make friends as a sophomore transfer?
  2. Would I be considered “late” joining a club as a sophomore?
  3. What apartments should I live in, where can I find options, and how should I choose roommates?
  4. How bad is the overall transition?
  5. How bad is the parking?

I applied to UGA as a transfer too, and am curious. When did you apply and hear back? I still haven’t heard anything .

I applied early march and got accepted on good friday. I think its random because I have read that other people applied earlier and still havent heard back
