ughhh i hate fine arts--help

ok so for my fine arts requirement, it's either: intro to 20th century art, photography I, basics of film and television, or intro to jazz... lol i have no idea i HATE fine arts--any suggestions?

the intro to jazz teacher has a really good NDtoday.com rating....here's one of the reviews i read about professor dwyer

"Professor Dwyer is great. He is really enthusiastic with teaching this course. He makes it very interesting and encourages class participation. All we did was listen to music and watch a few videos of performances. The only things that could be challenging are the listening assignments, but really all you have to do is put out some effort and you should do well. If you got a bad grade in this class its because you just didn't do anything at all. Also, attendance is very important, after three abscences he starts decreasing your grade by five point intervals for each class that you miss thereafter. If you can manageto get this class do not hesitate to take it.. you may never get another chance to again."

Keep in mind that the Fine Arts needs to be satisfied before you graduate, not before you finish your first year. In fact, in my plan for the next 3 years, I might not take it until my very last semester.

yeah but i don't know what else to take... i'm a future business major and i have my math requirements and science requirements filled with ap credits so I get 2 extra elective courses...

schedule is: philo, theo, econ, fine arts class, sociology seminar, PE

irishhopeful, how do you know the teachers? our FYS book doesn't list any... you must be an upperclassmen who can see who the teachers are?... is there any way I can see it, or is it very time consuming to match some classes with teachers for me so I can look 'em up?

I did Intro to Theatre and it wasn't bad, though as it turns out it killed my chances at summa cum laude. What can you do, but it wasn't bad at least.

Log into insideND, go to the student academic tab and then click on Class Search, you can find the teachers for the courses there. You can then check them on ndToday.com

Agreed, NDToday is a godsend!

Depending on what college you plan to enter, you may only need one Fine Arts OR Literature class. I think this might be the case for business- someone please correct me if I'm wrong. So, if you really hate fine arts, you could just take a literature class instead.

My sister took a Film and television class. She said it was pretty easy but there was some writing involved(which was bad for her lol). But overall she liked it. They'd discuss elements of movies and sometimes watch one then write a review or discuss it in class. (hope this helps)
However she kinda got screwed because shes in womens Lit. choir and that doesn't count as fine arts, but other music like band does...

thanks everyone...

and yes, for business all you need is one class of fine arts/literature... I dislike literature even more than fine arts lol... i'm assuming literature will be a lot more work than fine arts too (class description: "...after reading two influential theoretical accounts of modernity by Nietzsche and Freud..." NO THANKS! i'd rather learn about jazz) lol

so yeah I am picking the lesser of 2 evils here... I think i'm going to go with intro to jazz though; I read that the professor is cool and the class isn't too bad--I hope there is a history aspect to it because i'm more interested in the historical roots of jazz than the music itself...

Then I will see you in class, jvon2432.

hey i'll be seeing both of you guys in class as well. intro to jazz here we come!

man i hope it doesn't fill up, i haven't sent mine out yet lol... it looks liek the class isn't till like noon or something--pretty nice

you (expletive)s took all the spots. i want MY easy fine arts credit.
