Ugliest Campuses and Prettiest Campuses

I just visited UCF in Orlando and its the most beautiful campus I’ve seen so far. College town inside a city and beautiful landscaping and very modern building, yet some were “old” brick.

And their academics are improving too (#2 on Rising Schools Rankings)

I like Elon’s campus a lot. John Carroll also looks nice in the fall. East Carolina has a nice look to it- a blend of Greenville and a college campus- real nice college town feel.

Didn’t really like UNC Wilmington.

Ugliest campus (by far) I’ve been to is SUNY Albany, yet I’m applying there…

Whoever said the University of Minnesota is nice must have very unique tastes because the general consensus here (Minneapolis MN) is that it is very drab and boring. Good school though.

Wash U is beautiful and immaculately maintained, they go overboard with the landscaping and stone exteriors–not a bad thing! Constant construction can be a bit irritating though.

I laughed at the comparison between Stanford and a bunch of Taco Bells–it’s a nice campus but I thought this was true when I was there.

I have spent a lot of time at Notre Dame and didn’t think it was that nice. There’s a lot of open space, sure, but its a pretty boring midwest feel, save for a few examples of course.

Yale is perfect.

Harvard and Penn were perfect for me…

I think the nicest one I’ve been to is Princeton. Georgetown University is also pretty damn gorgeous.

UCSD, especially on a cloudy day (marine layer overcast day I should say), is fugly.

duuh. Obviously the University of Minnesota will be considered “drab and boring” looking …it’s an urban school.

Haverford,Oberlin, and Princeton are very pretty.Washington & Lee and UVA are two other pretty schools.
BU & Brandeis unattractive -UGH!

Wellsely, Brown, Bowdoin, and Harvard have the best campuses, in my opinion.

Brandeis is awful! As is Tufts.

Indiana University in Bloomington- very beautiful campus

Ugly: Stony Brook
Beautiful: Indiana University Bloomington

Portland State University is a beautiful campus…

I would say Central CT state university might be the ugliest…

Haven’t been to many but Georgetown is breath taking. So beautiful in the spring

Beautiful: Stanford, Santa Clara, USC (I loved the architecture there)

Ugly: UCSD, that place just looked like a factory. UCI kinda like the same thing.

Anyone know why some people agreed on Harvard as an ugly one?

I thought Rice was gorgeous, even when it was raining during my visit. The only drawback is the triple-digit heat and 100% humidity, but overall it was nice.

I heard Pomona was pretty good, but I haven’t been there.

Anybody know about UBuffalo? I’ve seen many images of it and it looks nice, but i’ll visit it sometime soon.

How about Baruch, I heard from friends who visited that it’s a very dull campus. This true?

From the looks of Binghamton, it can easily be turned in to a prison. Just put a big brick gate surrounding it, and it would look like a prison.

Sorry Wolverines, but I really don’t like U of Michigan’s campus. Parts of Central Campus (Law Quad) are very nice, but on the whole, it’s one of my least favorite campuses based on appearance and layout.

I also didn’t love Vanderbilt, Carnegie Mellon or Purdue.

Pretty: Northwestern, Indiana and the view from Ithaca!

Out of the colleges I’ve visited:

Pretty:
Harvard
Wellesley
BC
Cornell
Tufts

Average:
American
Northeastern

Ugly:
MIT
SUNY Binghamton
SUNY Brockport

Ugliest: UC Irvine

Prettiest: Duke
