uh oh im in deeeep trouble

LOL, wow!!! wait...by "our school" do you mean your hs or hopkins? lol
And yes! I hope we both get in too!! =)

(to students working in admissions office, bumping my question):

Alright, so Quarter Grades are finally in...

Mine were decent.....except for my AP Chem grade, which is a C. Sadly, chances are, this grade will prly not increase dramatically by end of semester, and I will prly take the AP and get a 4/5 and take the IB and get a 6-8.

Reason? The Teacher. This teacher is the same teacher with which i got C's both semester in IB Physics. These two courses are the only C's I've ever had in a Science course. The teacher's teaching methods are difficult to adapt to and his mumbling really limits knowledge obtained from lectures. So pretty much its self-studying, HARD graded hw/labs, and suuuuper long tests so that even if you know the material, you will run out of time and fail anyways. Who do well in this class? Super geniuses, ppl who've taken a college chem course before, OR people he likes (yes he is very favorable to certain people - especially if they are on Science Olympiad as he is the head coach and wishes to keep his title as National Champions for...5th year now?)

Now, I wish to somehow voice this correlation between my Physics and Chem grades, yet I don't want to give Adcoms any impression that I would fail a Hopkins course if the professor didn't cater his students (cuz of course I wouldn't! And I know that not all professors are the "best professors" at hopkins....so i've heard..) So how would I be able to bring up this issue without making it reflect poorly upon me? Should I just not address it at all?

Help!
luv=xtina*

yea, u mean ur hs or hopkins...cuz i love that show...this is rather off topic
but yea, xtina, i ended up with a c+ in calc...agh. and i have no valid reason, except that we only had two tests for grades, and i got...a ....68 on one. :(
best of luck to everyone applying!!!

I got a C+ in AP Chem this marking period, and I'm applying ED...I think I'm doomed...

Hmm...well its not REQUIRED that you guys submit quarter grades so you all should be fine =). PLUS, I bet all your gpas are higher than mine anyways :P.

Had another AP Chem test today.....80 full redox eqns balancing, KMT, gas law calculations, and collecting gas over water questions...and our period is only 45 minutes long!!!! Needless to say, large numbers of us don't finish... can you say UNFAIR? =( [[and curves don't really help since there's always one or two students who get 98%]]

omgosh. i'm not ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AP chemisty?....B-....which is really bad, cuz i'm not bad at chem. I'm just bad at the tests. and details. and stupid errors.
so i guess i'm bad at chem.

now i'm not alone!!!!!!!!
this board makes me so happy!!!

haha yep thats what we're here for :)

Speaking of AP Chem....I find it amazing that almost all the students from least year, who got C's in the class get 5's on the AP Exam...

What's the deal with that?

If you are getting a C in the class and still end up getting a 5 on the AP Exam, then the class is WAY to hard...

Thats the end of my little rant...haha...

aVenger....I AGREE!! Same goes for Calc...unfortunately, I'm living proof of that too -__-

I saw one of those episodes actually of nip/tuck. It's hard to know the validity of it actually being taped there. There were no scenes of the campus or anything; it was all indoors.

My hardest class is actually AP Chemistry too, although you guys will hate me in that I pulled off a 90 (A at my school). What I really hate about the class is that rather than teaching me the foundations of chemistry I am being taught the AP Chemistry test. I took the class for enrichment not for AP test strategies.

well, they JUUSTTT filmed it at our school, less than a week ago. i saw all the lights, camera, but...errr no action. (my friends did, tho)

oohh and eva langoria? or whomever that lady on desperate housewives is? my friends SAW her and were like...a few feet away from her =)

and i meant MY school, not jhu

lol cool!
Apparently, JHU was the film site of some small or independent film as well this past summer. Huge lights, cast members, directions, the whole jizz. Twas pretty fun. Couple of my friends were asked to be in as an extra....I couldn't though b/c I had to work during the shooting hours -__- BUt yeah...the boyfriend of Reese Witherspoon in Legally Blonde was in the movie. Cool Stuff!!
...the funny part was...the setting was supposed to be at some elitist Ivy League school.....yet they filmed it at hopkins =P

Well, Hopkins IS relatively elite (but I am biased). Good luck to all of you. I hope to see you all here next year.

Lol cytosis -

(to students working in admissions office, bumping my question, yet once again lol):

Please help!!!!!! I implore thee! =)

bump? =/....

Not to sound obnoxious or anything (I can imagine how irritated you feel)...

But I really don't think that you can let JHU know about the bad teacher without sounding desperate...

The only way that I could see you "making up" for the low grades is by taking the SAT II chemistry exam and SAT II physics exam and doing well on them....however if you're applying ED, it's kind of late for that now...

well, I'm still learning Chem so SAt II wouldn't be a good idea...but I took SAT II Physics and got a 670. I mean, that's not the BEST score, but it certainly reflects knowledge of a subject higher than a "C".
