Uh oh, panic about recommendations

For the Common App, I just discovered that one of my two recommending teachers never attached his recommendation for my Common App. I am unable to reach him and so he won't attach/send my recommendation until after all of the application deadlines have passed. What should I do?

I've already sent in some of my applications, so should I mail my recommendation to all of the schools I'm applying to? What do I do? I'm worried.

Contact the schools ASAP and let them know of the situation. Generally, schools are more accepting if other people’s parts are late (recommendations, transcripts, etc.) so it shouldn’t affect you too much, but try to ask him to get them in ASAP because your file will not be reviewed until it is complete.

I know each school might react differently, but what do you think the general course of action would be? Will my teacher be able to just attach his recommendation to my Common App? Or will I probably have to send the recommendation to the schools via mail?

What do you mean attach the recommendation? My teacher has not submitted the recommendation either, but he assured me that he’ll get it done before Jan 1. Heck I’m even begging him to edit my essay over the break…

I guess “submit” is a better word.

But is it bad that I already sent my applications to certain schools without one of my teachers having submitted my recommendations?

They will probably just keep your application open. I would follow up and let them know it’s coming, but don’t freak out just yet.
