BU is D’s #2 choice…still waiting to hear from #1. The financial aid web site used to say they were waiting for the business/farm supplement. I didn’t send it yet. Now it says…
The following 1 document(s) are NOT REQUIRED and do not have to be submitted. Business/Farm Supplement

Not a good sign? Or, could it mean that she won a full scholarship? (MLK)

V730 M710
GPA 3.5 unweighted

The waiting is depressing! Why would they change the requirements needed page without first posting her decision?

Call admissions tomorrow and ask. BU requires FAFSA and PROFILE for merit AND need-based aid. We had to submit the business/farm supplement back in fall for S's ED application. And he did get a merit award.

We filed the Fafsa and Profile at the required times, but I really didn't want to send in the Business/Farm supplement unless she was accepted. I had called and asked if not sending it in would affect her admission decision and they said it wouldn't. So, what do you GUESS the reason could be for them not wanting it anymore? My guess is a rejection....

Anything here would be a GUESS...call admissions. It could be that it is too late to accept that farm supplement as part of the aid package for incoming freshmen. It seems to me that our package had to be complete (and I mean COMPLETE) by March 1 the year DS was a hs senior. Your child could be accepted, but without any aid.

Call...don't assume anything. Some of their merit scholarships take finances into consideration and others do not. If she is getting the one that does not...the half tuition University scholar one...there may be others...they wouldn't need it. Our s, a freshman now, as you'll see on previous posts about merit aid, received his acceptance with no mention of any award. I sent an email asking if that meant none was forthcoming and they said no...that we'd hear in two weeks. Well in our case he wanted to visit his 3 favorite acceptances during their accepted students days in mid-April to make his final determination and so I called and explained that we'd like to know since that visit will likely tip the scales. They had noted our email and hinted that they would get something to us soon. In about a week we heard about the half tuition scholarship. So keep in mind that in a large school with so many letters and merit scholarships being decided its important to call. Especially if your D would likely accept BU if the merit $ was available. If thats the case let them know but it seems it may not be so in your situation.

I suppose that what I am really asking is....do you think that because they are no longer asking for the info, they are most likely rejecting her? Of course I understand that we will find out one way or the other soon enough... but just looking for opinions here. Thanks.

absolutely not...given some of what you must have read here and elsewhere you have to note that there are too many possibilities. Email first then wait a few days and call.

Too many to list...editor of the school newspaper, debate team, NHS, French Honor Society, manager of the boys track team, Presidential Classroom, Aids Awareness Club, competitive tap dancer, hundreds of hours of community service, etc. etc. etc. But, looking at the people who have already been rejected....there have been so many with excellent qualifications as well. Thanks for all of the feedback. I'm feeling a little more encouraged...

Thank you. The decision is the easiest part. BU has always been her #2 choice. Yesterday, she was accepted into her #1 choice....George Washington University, which is where she will attend. Finally, the waiting is over....although still hasn't heard from NYU or Northeastern. Good luck to all!
