UH vs TAMU Geophysics

Hello. Ive been admitted to TAMU and UH. I’m currently torn between the two in terms of future job placement.
I want to major in Geophysics and both have very good programs for it. My main concern is which would help me find a job easier. TAMU is obviously a well respected school but due to its location an internship or job will be harder to find than in the UH area. However UH does not have as much fame as TAMU.
Will the Name of TAMU outweigh the location of UH or vice versa?

You won’t find a geophysics internship in College Station, so if you get an internship, you’ll just have to find a place to live for the summer wherever you are interning. That’s not a big deal - it’s what most students do. Both TAMU and UH have great programs. I don’t think you should choose your college based on whether you can get a summer internship near the university - if that were the case, very few would choose any school not based in a huge metropolitan area. TAMU has excellent job fairs and job placement services. I’m sure UH does as well.

So one wouldn’t be better than the other? It would just be down to which school would be better for me?

@jromero800 I am in the same place and honestly I am leaning towards UH mainly because of research. I don’t know which college does the most in your field but I do know that you are a lot more likely to do undergrad research at UH and if you intend on going to grad school check out there financial aid opportunities!! They have a program that pays for tuition, health insurance, and salary on top of that (you basically go to grad school for free while helping as a TA or RA). In a field like geophysics (which I am interested in as well but I am majoring in mathematics) I think this could be highly beneficial. Although TAMU has a better rep and it is almost like the brand to buy, it is hard not to turn to UH who is a Tier One school. No one can really say UH academics aren’t good anymore, they are doing a ton of research and their staff if top notch.
Just food for thought. I recommend looking up both schools and ask how each one could benefit you. Everyone is different. The location could be another big factor depending on your personality.

Thank you very much @CooperMathWorks‌ I was not aware of that.
