UIC GPPA vs Johns Hopkins UG

I am honestly 50/50 on this decision right now…there’s a few criteria that are really important to me in this decision

  1. Success in applying out

As of right now, I am pretty sure I want to roll the dice again with medical school admissions… I know gppa let’s you apply out, but will UIC undergrad hurt me in medical school apps (some private end schools care about undergrad rigor it seems). On the other hand, Hopkins is a complete pressure cooker and I might end up w nothing because of grade deflation

  1. Research Hopkins obviously has world class staff to research with, and gppa seems to prioritize its students with research networking too.. not sure if the person you’re researching with matters for med school as opposed to content of research
  2. College experience

UIC is a commuter campus vs JHU a more traditional college in homewood… not sure if UIC would provide the traditional experience with dorms and like campus traditions, which seem kinda nice @ JHU

Please let me know your input… any insight helps

UIC certainly has dorms. It’s also in Chicago, which is a great place to be.

Is this for med school? I don’t see how networking helps for med school, though research does.

IMO, JHU makes sense only if you switch off the med school. More opportunities in other fields. Pre-med competition/pressure at Hopkins is intense evenjusttobeallowedtoapplytomedschool_. If you are deadset on med school, UIC makes more sense.
