UIC-GPPA.

yeah, im doing gppa medicine. im still wanting NU because its a much better social atmosphere, but gppa is a much better opportunity for what you're getting. what city are you from? what activites are you interested in? what dorm you staying in? ahh im so excited to meet everyone!!!

im not 100% sure about gppa med.
but im still very much itnerested
did u guys get the e-mail about choosing the site?
i sure hope i get chicago!
im deciding betwn this and BU's 7 year program
so im still very much stuck

Hey all -- yeah, aisany1988, I agree: I much prefer NU's and Johns Hopkins overall atmosphere, but I couldn't pass up GPPA. I guess I'll see you there, then.

My going to UIC was pretty contingent on GPPA status, but since I'm going I (just now, oops) applied for housing. I was told I'm pretty much guaranteed it, though, so that's a good thing.

I think I appled for CMW, CMS, and CTY for dorms. I don't remember exactly.

Did anyone of you get a tutuion scholarship at UIC Honos College? (6k/yr. renewable every yr. for 4 yrs.)

"Alternate list," whatever that one means.

um so idef. missed the placement testing dates
as i was reading the list of dates today
i dont even know if im going to gppa, but did anyone else take the tests yet? i guess if i decide (which I HAVE TO within this week) im gonnahave to reschedule

I think you only have to take placement tests if you scored below a certain score on your ACT subjects.

well, i know ill be exempt from the math and english becaz of my ACT but it didnt say anything about the exemption for chem or foreign lang.

I'm in UIC GPPA Dent right now.
1. You can get exempt from foreign language if you see the department. I got waived because I went to chinese school and took their test.
2. CTY dorms are the biggest and best. Though most people like the honors lfoor for CMS for their camaraderie.
3. I have a fulltuition scholarship right now (got as freshman) but if you guys didn't get one, you can apply for them every semester through the honors college.

Hi, I'm also very interested in the UIC GPPA, but I am confused as to what I really NEED to get in. If you have the time can you please provide some advice. I am asking this because you posted that you would be willing to help out

Thanks!

Which program do you want to apply to?

And is anyone going to GPPA (/GPPA Med) Fall 2006?

I want to go to Northwestern HPME or UIC GPPA
Obviously NU is a lot harder but i feel UIC is w/in reach
So I was just wondering about what stats you need etc.
Also the whole interview process...?

Thanks

Hello,
I'm going to be a senior in high school in the fall of 2006, and would like to know what my chances are of getting into the GPPA program at UIC.
Here are my "stats", if you will:
ACT - 36 (with writing)
SAT - 2300 (with writing)
50 out of class of 663
captain of the speech team
math team - four years
captain of the scholastic bowl team
tennis for three years - now play varsity 2nd singles
editor for the school newspaper
play violin
PSAT - 230
Thanks much

Hey Everyone!
I'm an incoming Senior at New Trier High School, Winnetka, IL and I'm really interested in UIC"S GPPA Pharmacy program. I was really hoping that anyone already in it or someone that got in could tell me their "stats," if you will, and their ecs. Any other advice as to what they really look for would be greatly appreciated :) Thanks a ton!!! Please respond ASAP!

is there any way to get past the residentcy rule?
thats really unfair for people who live in a state which doesnt offer anything.
90 percent of my family lives there and my mom was born there! :(

You probably won't get past the Illinois residency rule, they're pretty competitive programs and it IS a state school. There are plenty of other BS/MD programs, though, without residency rules.

hey guys i'm also doing GPPA med at uic. I had two interviews: one was the regular honors college parade/rally lol and the second was individually scheduled. They werent' as hardcore as they were hyped upt to be, in fact, the second one was conducted by two very nice ladies who kept it quite casual. I took my chem placement test just last week and am scheduled for orientation on the 17th of july. I didn't apply for housing, so i'm prly going to get an apartment nearby. I went to high school at Glenbard East in Lombard and senior year was a BLAST! But i have faith that it will only get better!! I'm looking forward to meeting fellow uic/gppa'ers. Feel free to email me at acassim1@gmail.com or iM me at wiseguyv7x.

Well I go to Northside College Preparatory High School which is probably the best public high school in Illinois. I want to become a doctor and I have heard that the GPPA program is very good and ideal for me [i come from a low-income hispanic family]. I would greatly appreciate any information that you have on the program [sinc you got in!]. Anything is helpful at this moment since I have visited their webpage but there are SO many little things that the page doesn't cover such as the application and what they're expecting, the interviews [i heard there's 2] and any other little things that you might know that would be helpful to me. Thank you so much and congrat in getting in!

oh by the way the message above was for ainsany1988

hey, i'm currently enrolled in gppa medicine.. i'm a freshman. there are definitely 2 interviews... this year 302 people applied and 72 made it to the second interview and 42 were eventually admitted, and 27 enrolled. ok the second interview CAN BE intense depending on who you get. i got doctor chambers and he was very intense.. def not a bs interview. you have to have good scores and good grades to get in obviously, and getting a hold of the application can be tedious. anyway let me know if you have questions.
