I have an interview and i was wondering what kind of questions i should expect, what they are looking for, what should i have prepared, and how much the interview factors in to the admissions to the program. ive read that 120 get asked to interview and around 80 get in for 40 spots.

Anybody know?

My D was invited to interview for College of Business Honors a few years ago. She was interviewed by 2 current Honors students and it was fairly laid back/conversational from she told me. She didn’t get into Honors but all applicants who didn’t make honors were named as James Scholars (a different honors program with similar perks.) They already know your stats, so I think they just want to get to know you- to find out if you have poise and confidence to succeed in the business world. I suggest that you simply be your best self, and, if you can, send the dean(s) - and maybe the students - a “thank you” email after the interviews. (they are really big on that in the Business program) Good luck!

My son is in the Business Honors Program at UIUC. I think your 120/80/40 numbers are pretty accurate. I don’t recall him preparing much for the interview. I think they will ask you several questions about your high school experience, your goals, your interests, etc. It might be a good idea to research the University a little bit before the event. But, I don’t think the interviewers are looking to be impressed. They seemed more interested in sharing information and explaining the program. Show them you are interested in UIUC (assuming you are). It was that interview event that really locked in UIUC as my son’s top choice. We were very impressed with the program and he has really enjoyed being involved in it. Good luck!

Thank both of you so much, I appreciate it
