Hi guys,
I am at the stage of making college decisions and I’m not sure which school to choose.
I got into both UIUC Business school and U Mich LSA (my preferred admissions to Ross got rejected but I will apply again next year if i go to U Mich…it is really difficult to get in though).
Personally I want to study business (not really into liberal studies) but I’m also considering the prestige/ranking of the school. My concern is that U Mich is higher ranked but UIUC has offered me the major I want to study. Which is better in the long run?
Thanksss
What area of business are you considering? UIUC is excellent in accounting. Michigan Ross is going to be extremely difficult to get into next year, even more than usual. Are you from Illinois? If you are, I would say stay instate for business if that’s what you really want to study.
Just by changing from 80% admission in sophomore to 80% in freshmen for Ross, the chance would be likely around 10% (down from ~40%) to get in Ross after freshmen year now. The actual stat has not been available yet as they just changed that last year. So it is indeed very competitive and you may take that into consideration. Also, UIUC fixed the tuition for 4 years while Umich not. They charge even more once you have 55 credits. Ross also has higher tuition than LSA.
