UIUC Chemical Engineering

I have been recently admitted to UIUC as a junior transfer, majoring in specialized program in chemistry. However recently, I have began to question and wonder if I would I like chemical engineering better since it involves math and physics, both of which I love. I know I have kind of came to this realization I little bit late, which meant I had already put chemistry as my major of choice and had already been accepted and everything. I have not entirely made up my mind yet because I have always loved chemistry and have done really well and enjoyed in all the chemistry classes I have taken in college, including organic chemistry, However, since I am exploring the possibly that I might decide that chemical engineering is what I want to do, I was wondering how difficult and how long i would have to wait to change from chemistry to chemical engineering if I choose to make the switch?
Also, if I choose to continue majoring in chemistry, I would want to get into a PhD program after graduation and what past professors have told me about how important it is to do research as an undergraduate, how hard would it be to find chemistry research opportunities at UIUC?
