My in-state child received admission for BioE (first and only choice) and was selected to be in the Chancellor’s Scholar Campus Honors Program (CHP). No merit scholarship was offered in this acceptance letter and it appears most offers will come out the last week of Feb or first week of March.
Stats: 35 / 4.0uw / 4.8w / top 1%. Will have 13 APs, 5s on seven so far. A Top and very large public HS in the state (1000 in class) . Good EC, leadership, community service and athletics (8 seasons and a Varsity captain).
Let’s post as the merit scholarships are awarded for CoE.
Similar to your child, I am an in-state student who applied for BioEng as my first and only choice.
My stats are slightly lesser than his/her (34 ACT/3.9 uw/top 2%) with 12 APs. However, I received the Illinois ENG Enhanced Scholarship for $10,000 per year with my acceptance. I’m sure you’ll get something!
Thank you for the info you shared. Congrats on your accomplishments and scholarship.
Are you still deciding on your choice of schools? My child still has one more school to visit, one more school to hear from about acceptance, and a few more updates about scholarships, all coming by April 1. It should be an exciting month with so many good options already.
Hi, @SoProudOfMyChildren! I just wanted to say congrats to your child. My son is a UIUC Chancellor’s Scholar in the College of Business. In your original post you said no merit scholarship was offered in his acceptance letter. First year CHP students receive a $1500 scholarship. Also, next year there will be special housing available at Nugent. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Good luck with whatever your child decides!
Just found out there will be no college of engineering merit scholarship to accompany my child’s Chancellor’s Scholar Award for CHP. .Kind of disappointing for us. Even if the last two colleges we hear from are non-accetances, UIUC will be 2x the cost of other choices we will have with the merit already awarded. Definitely not a bad situation, but kind of takes the wind out of the sail espousing the exclusive nature of the Chancellor’s Scholar Award (125 total freshman from the University).
@SoProudofMyChildren Sorry to hear about no additional merit. UIUC in-state at 2 times the cost of the other acceptances isn’t easy. Good luck with the decision.
