Hello,

I have been accepted to the college of engineering at U of I. I applied for ME but I am waitlisted for that major (din't know that was possible). As of now my admission status is "Engineering-Undesignated" and I am guaranteed a spot in the College of Engineering for my freshman year. The email also says the following:

"This year we experienced unprecedented demand for spaces in Aerospace Engineering, Bioengineering, Computer Science, and Mechanical Engineering, and as of now, we have filled all of our freshman spaces in those programs."

"As a student already admitted to the College of Engineering, you can select from any of the other available engineering degree programs at any time up to and including your summer registration."

"You are also automatically on the waiting list for the program you originally requested, and we will offer you that program should space become available. We expect to have a limited number of spaces in Civil Engineering and General Engineering, so if you are interested in one of these programs, you might also think about a backup choice."

I am leaning towards IE or CE, and definately staying away from EE and CE. Should I wait to see if ME spots open up or secure my spot in a different major? Any suggestions from past experiences or insight will help.

Thankyou
