I'm currently a freshman at UIUC but have sophomore standing thanks to my AP credits. I'm not sure exactly what I want to go into, but I was thinking pharmacy or research or maybe psychiatry. I was thinking about double majoring in MCB & psychology with a minor in chemistry. I would only need to take 1 more upper-level chem class along with my pharmacy requirements in order to be a chemistry minor, so I'm definitely going to do that. Originally, I was only going to be a MCB major with a chem minor and graduate in 3 years, since I have all my gen eds done and it would be feasible. However, I spoke to a MCB advisor and she said that I shouldn't take more than 3 science classes per semester, so I am going to spread them out more and graduate in 4 years. Since I would have to add a lot more classes to have full-time status all 4 years, I thought I would just double major in psych along with MCB and my minor in psych. I created a 4-year plan, and it would be possible without being too overwhelming. Has anyone done this? Can you even double major & minor?

I’m sort of in the same position as you. My dual enrollment and AP credits knocked a whole lot of gen eds out of the way and I plan on double majoring in MCB and Psych as well. I’ve had people tell me its possible and I’ve had people tell me I’m crazy. I’ve yet to talk to someone doubling in Psych and MCB, but i don’t find the psych requirements too overwhelming for me not to go through with it. Sorry I’m not much help, but if you find out anything, let me know!
