UIUC - EA applicants Class of 2025

Is the deposit full tuition or a percentage?

Congrats, you going to love UIUC and would find great interests and support in Physics as well as Math.

Thanks, that’s great to hear. Though UIUC isn’t my top choice school, so fingers crossed my spot goes to someone off the waitlist.

My daughter got in. Lot of kids from her school got in as well. Congratulations to all of you who got in.
Deferred stay tight. Every one can choose just one college and most of you will get in too.
Rejected, I am rooting for all of you get into the best choice.
It will all work in the end

Deposit is relative small amount, believe <1K, full tuition is not due until college is about to start, sometime in September. Also you can set up a convenient Payment Plan.

I got in! thanks andy borst for the shoutout!

Is CS significantly more competitive than CS+X and Computer Engineering? I got denied for CS and am thinking about appealing(adding second-choice major) b/c I didn’t select a second choice initially.

@Enfocado127 Sadly I agree with this. Having had 2 kids previously get into CS at UIUC (both decided alternate routes) and with my oldest it was just before this program began, it is very difficult. If my memory serves, they have also raised the minimum GPA needed just to be considered for CS now which is a 3.75 and even at that there is no guarantee you will be admitted. Earning a 3.75 in all those courses as I’m sure you know at UIUC is not a cakewalk either. Large classes, not a ton of support in all cases, classes typically known as weed-out courses and little room for error. Afterall a 3.75 means you need to essentially earn all’s and an A- or two in there is ok. And again, no guarantee that you will even be accepted into CS as there are other things they also consider and the number of spots. This is not for everyone. I would only recommend this route for someone who has a backup major that they’re ok pursuing. So, if they are not deadset on CS and/or are ok majoring in something else and later even going to get a Masters somewhere else in CS. There are other programs besides UIUC for CS, and better you go to one where you have a guaranteed spot than not.

This is my 4th kid in the college process, 3rd that applied for CS at Illinois, my highest stats kid, but also my only one having to deal with Covid and the mess of senior year and Test optional and our state (IL) being in such a financial mess, and so it goes. So while 2 of my others were accepted to UIUC for CS this one was only accepted into the PREP (Pre-Engineering Program) and since he has no interest in that or retaking many classes he has already taken, all with no guarantee of a spot in CS somewhere, he will take a pass on UIUC for one of the other schools he has been accepted to.

Good luck to all of you who have been accepted. It is an exciting day for many future Illini!

Thank you for answering my question!!

Believe CS and CS+X or CE are exclusive choices, so you won’t be able to select CS+X or CE as second choice to CS. However double check with admission office.

I will contact them next Monday. But I am able to select those in the appeal form.

sorry to hear about last kid, Covid has created chaos to so many this year, my younger one is struggling with his junior year pre-med track in college when none of medical related activities he can do for a year now and you can’t simply accomllish them in time as those are time consuming activities. Afraid that he will be forced to take a gap year before applying to med schools in spite of 3.9+ GPA so far.

with smart siblings and wonderful parent support, certain that he will do great with choices he has.

Congratulations! Is there an acceptance letter that can be viewed/downloaded? All I see is " **Congratulations on your admission to UIUC! and "“You’re an Illini!” message

My Daughter got accepted to School of Information Sciences. Is it really hard to transfer to CS+X (Anthropology).

I think I had seen an option in the checklist. It was towards the bottom.
