Thank you so much! This is ironically my chill kid so he’s good with it! My husband and I last night kind of laughed at the prospect of having 4 kids and not one going to UIUC! My oldest was supposed to but then took deferred his admittance and never looked back.

As for your son, it’s definitely a challenge and to not get those activities in and experience, I am sure is rough for him. Hopefully in the next few months he can make up for it. Medical school and then residency after is such a long haul that to have to add in an extra year as a gap year to push it all back is rough, but understandable. Hopefully he won’t have to do that. It is so rough for these kids. But, if he does, he should take advantage of time and just be a kid!!

Read the FAQ. They are very informative. You can find them on the myillini page under the “Congratulations on your Admission to UIUC” in the section titled “Additional Information”. For others asking about merit and financial aid, there is also a lot of info there about dates, etc.

Note for those waiting or expecting merit, UIUC is not generous with merit. So don’t expect it. If you get any, then be pleasantly surprised. But they are not known to be generous. As a state in huge financial distress, we really need all the money we can get. Based on the number of International and OOS students accepted, it seems to be skewed that way from a financial perspective as they don’t give preference to in state students like Texas, Virginia, North Carolina and may other states do.

It was somewhat surprise, if not disappointing, this year with amount of OOS and international acceptances are posted in highly sought majors. But we know our state finance woes. Eager to see the admission statistics if they have posted any.

Accepted for CS!
OOS
Test Optional
4.0 UW GPA
14 APs (4s and 5s)
FIRST Robotics
Varsity XC/Track
Published Research
Still pretty shocked about this decision!

Yeah, not a good look for us, but not surprised. They need to pay for all that covid testing somehow! Lol!

Thank You. The “Notice of Admission packet” seems to be not yet available. When clicked on “Notice of Admission Letter”, it takes to a page that says “No Notice of Admission is available at this time.”

1510 SAT 800 Math, 710 EBRW
4.0UW 4.67W

Our twin boys got accepted in CS. We are very happy, for they were capped at UT Austin. One published 6 (and the other 7) articles (original ideas and implementations, not stupid tutorials) in Medium, Towards Data Science, Towards AI, etc. But I guess that was not good enough for UT Austin. Grateful that the #5 ranked program thought they were qualified. Applied to a few other schools like UC Berkeley and CMU, but will not know until the end of March. Congratulations to all who got accepted, and good luck to those waitlisted. This is a crazy year, and ultimately most kids will be happy with their final choice.

Accepted: Undeclared Engineering (second choice. CS was first choice)
GPA - 3.9/4.4;

Disappointed and probably not going to UIUC at this point given that DS has other good options to pick from (Mich, UVA and UMD).

Congratulations to everyone who got what they wanted and good luck to everyone else!

Its very simple, UT Austin did yield protect.

@QQsubs
Do they even allow Undeclared Engineering as 2nd choice to CS?
I thought Undeclared Engineering has to be exclusive 1st choice, at least that was case few years back.

Son accepted to Mechanical Engineering.

In-state, 3.8UW/4.3W, didn’t submit test scores.
7APs, PLTW/Dual Credit Engineering courses every year of high school.
