Hello all,
I am a high school senior who was admitted into the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a biology major. I will be part of the School Molecular and Cellular Biology. I definitely plan on being a pre-med student and from what I’ve seen so far, many of the prerequisite courses for medical school (with the exception of about 4 or 5) are included in the MCB major. I am 90% sure I will be attending UIUC this fall, however I am curious as to just how well their pre-med track is as well as how good their biology major is. UIUC has a reputation for having competitive students, and I’m sure that applies to those who partake in the pre-med track as well. Just how challenging are the classes in the MCB major? Does the school have a good reputation in regards to medical school acceptances? Would you consider this school a good choice for one who plans on getting in the medical field? Any and all comments will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Hi @SciGal2201 i am in a similar situation as you were, UIUC Bio with Pre-Med interest. i am planning on attending this (2017)fall. if you did end up attending UIUC I would like to know your feedback. Your input will help me immensely in deciding what my next course of action would be. Thanks so much!
SciGal2201 and Shamoo…what were your admission stats (e.g. GPA - weighted and unweighted, ACT/SAT scores and Extracurriculars)? I am thinking of applying to UIUC as a biology major and am thinking pre-med too and was just curious about your stats (to compare to mine) to see what my chances are to get accepted in a similar fashion. Thank you for your help.
