I wouldn’t be surprised if we have to wait til next week.
I called there on Friday last week just to make sure that everything was in order. She asked me if it said ‘complete’ on myillini, which it does. She said that it should be this week then.
Hopefully it is. I still haven’t heard anything today, but it could still come sometime in the next few hours.
Doesn’t “this week” include saturday and sunday?
I hope not…lol
I’ve seen several people that have said they got their decisions on a Sunday, so I guess it’s possible.
Oh man…
By the looks of things, it seems that we might have to wait some more…
Scratch that!
I just got accepted to Engineering Physics!! I checked at 4pm since I usually check once every hour lol and there it was: the “You’re an illini!” sign in big. I’m so happy I got in because this was the only college I applied to. Hopefully, you all got your decisions as well!
I just got my acceptance into the Specialized Curriculum in Physics!! This has been an amazingly long wait, and I feel so incredibly relieved that it’s finally over. I couldn’t be happier!
@flaker003 - Congrats on your acceptance! You’re doing engineering physics? Are you transferring in as a junior? If so, there’s a good chance that we’ll be in some of the same classes in the fall. Engineering Physics and Specialized Physics follow roughly the same track up to a point.
@comfortablycurt Congrats man!! Finally!
I’m transferring in as a sophomore which is why I was not completely sure if I’d get accepted or not. I still have to take the basic physics classes, but I’ll definitely see you around. Cheers!
Ahh I see. I’ll be a junior, so I’ll just be a year ahead of you. It’s a small department though, so I imagine we’ll bump into one another.
Congrats curt and flaker!
First of all congrats to all those who got accepted.
I don’t know how much happy should be about my admission, because I just saw that the transfer acceptance rate is 67%. Its a really great university, but that 67% acceptance percentage just makes me feel less special.
someone has some facts to just uplift my mood or something.
Why does the acceptance rate matter? It’s one of the most well established and highly respected research universities in the world.
I know that this should not affect me cause, in the end all that matters is I got accepted to one of the highly respected research universities in the world. I will best opportunities to succeed.
But if you think 2/3 rd of the applied students are accepted. It just not feels that such a good research university will accept so many applicants.
I don’t know maybe I am completely wrong in thinking that.
@comfortablycurt congratulations on finally hearing back and getting accepted! Just sucks that I still have yet to get a decision, guess I’ll finding out tomorrow, hopefully…
I spoke with an adviser earlier, and she told me that decisions are still going to be coming out through next week. Hopefully you hear soon!
Congrats on getting in Curt! I knew you would haha. You’ve been waiting the longest so you deserve it!
I hope everyone who’s still waiting hears back soon!
Exactly, and congratulations on your acceptance, comfortablycurt. Given the well known reputation of the program, the number of applicants is self-selective, meaning the applicants that do apply are those that have a shot of being accepted, and 2/3 are. Acceptance rate, basically, is meaningless.
Thanks everyone! It’s great to finally be accepted. It all seems so much more real now. I’m ready to finish this semester up and get to UIUC!
I’m with you Curt! Haha. I sign up for courses next week so it’s good to get a move on things. That and while I’m down there I’m pretty excited to try out Sakanaya for sushi haha
If you like Chicago style pizza, check out Papa Del’s. They’ve got some amazing deep dish there.
I’m signed up for registration on May 20th. I wanted to do one sooner, but the earlier ones are all on Fridays, which means I’d have to miss a physics lab, which I don’t really want to do. Plus I’d have to leave here at about 5 in the morning to get there in time, which I also do not want to do. If I go on the 20th I’ll be done with my finals, and I can just go a day early and stay with a friend so I don’t have to leave at 5 am.
I doubt I’ll get locked out of any of the physics classes I’m planning for the fall, but getting locked out of the math classes I want to take is a possibility.
