While I know that UIUC's college of engineering is certainly better, its tuition is 7 times higher than that of U T for me (since I'm canadian + scholarship). So tough decision here, my parents can still afford 4 years at UIUC (at a costly burden) but I'm not sure how much the benefits really are, for my future career.

Go to U of T. It’s a great school, and UIUC isn’t worth a large extra sum of money. I’d argue that U of T may even be better, depending on your course; plus it’s recognized internationally for CS/CE. The only downfall I see is the cold weather, which you are probably used to by now anyways, and the less liberal curriculum that Canadian universities offer. Nevertheless, if UIUC is more expensive, I’d stick to U of T; I doubt you’d have any problem whatsoever going to graduate school or getting a job with a degree from there.

At that cost difference it’s not worth extra money. U of T is well respected.
