Hi everyone! My son has been admitted to UIUC for computer engineering and UCLA for computer science and engineering.
We are confused and request your help in making the decision on where he should attend.
Costs are very similar as far as both universities are concerned, and we can afford both the schools.
UIUC - top 5 CE program, but lower ranked overall, cold weather, perhaps unappealing location.
UCLA - top 15 CE program, high overall university ranking, high brand value, great weather, urban campus.
His priority is getting a job or going to a top notch grad school after 4 years, and is keen to have the best possible education in the subject, and land great internships and research opportunities on the way. Which university would be the one to go for?
Please do help us make this crucial decision. I am posting this on my son’s behalf as he is currently busy with examinations. I shall also be posting this on the UCLA thread.
