UIUC vs UIC for Mechanical Engineering?

Hi,

I want to stay in state and have been considering both UIUC and UIC as my top options. I want to go into Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Industrial Design and then go to business school.

Leaning towards UIC because of the GPPA program and the fact that I can get AP credit with a 4/5 instead of a 5 for the same courses. This way, I can be done with more classes and graduate earlier. UIUC is much more prestigious and smaller city which I love. Which one is better in terms of quality vs return?

Well, there is no comparison as far as Engg is considered. UIUC is similar to IVY league where as UIC is similar to one of many many state colleges.
