I've been admitted to UIUC College of Business majoring in Accountancy. I had a tendency of going to USC because of its well known reputation in LA area. But UIUC's Accountancy major is ranked #1 whereas USC Accountancy is ranked #5. Should I go there instead of USC? Will there more on-campus recruitments opportunity than USC? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

First of all, congrats. Both USC and UIUC have excellent accounting programs, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. I think your choice should be based on where you intend to start you career. If you would like to start out with let's say a Big 4 in the Midwest, definitely go with UIUC. If you wanna stay on the West Coast, USC for sure. In all honesty, I don't think it really matters. Point is that you are going to end at a top 5 accounting program either ways and the firms know which schools have the best accounting programs.

P.S. Those rankings are from US News and World Report I believe. Public Accounting Report has USC's Leventhal School of Accounting ranked #4 for undergrad and #5 for graduate in the most recent ranking.
