Hi,

As far as I know, need based financial aid is not offered, but there are some scholarship. Correct me if I’m wrong.
For all practical purposes, assume that there is no meaningful financial aid for US students. Yes, some exist, such as the merit-based Amy Li (for Math, Physics, Engineering or Chem Eng) at Cambridge for 16K/pa or St Andrews need-based 4K/pa- but in reality the UK unis welcome US students for their $$ (not counting Oxbridge or LSE, who are unmoved by your tuition $$).
I think OP is an international student - not American
ah- well caught, @katliamom - I thought they were saying that as a US student they would be an international in the UK.
Unfortunately, OP, it doesn’t help that much. Cambridge does have another scholarship for students from low-income countries (which is quite generous, including a trip home every year)- but it is (obviously) ferociously competitive. There are also some country-specific scholarships at Oxford and Cambridge (search their websites)- but again, few and narrow.
Yes to Oxbridge, but you are kidding yourself if you think LSE isn’t swayed by money as well. This is the same university which accepts money from Gaddafi and accepts payments to write good reports on scandal ‘charities’. It’s no wonder that 70% of their students are not from the UK - still think they aren’t reliant on tuition for their income?
Can’t blame them as well seeing as there isn’t much funding in research for social sciences and they don’t have a massive endowment like Oxbridge does.
