Ultimate Guide to SAT Grammar by Erica Meltzer BOOK review

I lol’d.

Oh, and it’s different ‘from’. Also, there should be a semicolon after “But I like it”. What are you learning from that grammar book, anyway?

^awesome post

Studious lol wow

Haha…I’m still laughing on that one.

I was writing it on my mobile phone. In addition, there’s reason as to why I would have to write in such a “grammatically correct” way at College Confidential. Although if you desire mate, we could both play that game.

. I’m sorry if I don’t have my grammar skills as eloquently**** [you like that word? I threw it in there just for you ;)] polished as you would have liked.

That’ll give you something to lol :).

Oh and by the way, I have around 40 more posts on this forum that need some correcting. Hopefully, you’re willing to help me out :).

I corrected your post because it was ironic that it contained grammatical mistakes in a thread about a grammar book. I would look like a pretentious pedant if I did so anywhere else (so I won’t ;)).

That said, I regret to inform you that you’ve made a few more errors in your latest post. I don’t quite understand the “laughing on” phrase you employ in your first line. It’s idiomatically incorrect; it should be “laughing at”. Also, another idiom error is present in the phrase “at College Confidential”. The correct preposition is “on”.

Maybe you really do need that book… Are you looking to score an 800 in Writing?

^ Thanks for the correction, I didn’t expect anything less ;).

Maybe that’s what CC needs, a couple of pretentious pedants…

lmao ahahaha

Wait… You didn’t expect anything less? DID YOU PLANT THOSE ERRORS?! I feel like I’ve been swindled…

Lol guys calm down -.-

Here, I’ll correct you: don’t use a disjunct in sentences :p.

That is a improper sentence. You cannot add a smiley face before a period, as a smiley face is not part of a sentence structure. Thus invalid in terms of writing.

This thread just keeps on getting better.

I have serious doubts as to whether you guys know what a disjunct is. :)

Actually, disjuncts are fine. (See, I just used one there.) But the use of the adverb “hopefully” is sometimes considered to be incorrect. So you were right that his usage of “hopefully” is considered by some grammarians to be incorrect, but your correction itself was incorrect (as disjuncts are perfectly fine grammatically). Even so, perusing the Wikipedia article, it says that it is still considered standard usage to employ “hopefully” in a disjunct.

Thanks for teaching me something new, IceQube!

I have Both the Black Book and the The Ultimate Guide to SAT Grammar.I already read the critical reading portion form the Black book and now i am confused between these 2 books for the writing section. Please suggest me what to choose.

@Babuji
