UM Fin Aid Award

Hi,

I applied EA and submitted my CSS Profile in October and my FAFSA on 01/02/16. When I go to aid on my U-M account it says 0.00, but I don’t see any notices or anything, so I have a feeling that I just haven’t received my award. Has anybody received an award for EA, or do we get that in April?

Also, unrelated, when do decisions about Ross Preferred Admission come out? In April, along with RD acceptances?

Thanks!

That means that you haven’t been given any aid yet. Aid is just you get it when they feel like giving it to you.

I know preferred admissions decisions can come out as early as sometime at the end of this month.

Wait for at least another month for the first estimated FA package. For Ross pre-admission, I think it starts coming out in mid Feb in batches.

If we have not yet submitted CSS/FAFSA to UMich, are they still considering merit awards? I also asked this on the FA forum so apologies for the “double” question.

FA site says: you will if you want to be considered for merit, no further applications must be filed. To be eligible for need based scholarships, fafsa/CSS is required.

Thank you for that!

Note that although merit aids would be considered automatically for EA applicants, there are some additional scholarships (e.g. Bell and some engineering scholarships) that NEED to be applied separately. There are also some by invitation.

Thank you!

I didn’t receive an estimate until February. HOWEVER, make sure you submit all the required documents for an OFFICIAL award. My official and estimate awards were COMPLETELY different.
All the best!

Just curious, product rule, completely different in a bad or good way

My D’s FA was also revised 4-5 times through Summer.

Thanks all! Also–just to clarify–when do Ross ADMISSIONS decisions (not FA) come out? The email said by April…

bad but i was able to submit more info and get it revised

@ComputerAge I think it starts to come out in February.

Does need based only apply to the poor as in under $80K or something? Or is it based on some other factors?

80000 is not “poor.”

In “FA speak”, poor and rich are relative terms, and not accurate at all!!

@billcsho

Just curious, was this based on new information or an appeal you submitted? Or they just randomly changed it?

@brantly Every time an external or internal scholarship is reported to school, they will revise the award letter as the need becomes lower. Also, when the tuition or R&B rate is adjusted, they will update the FA accordingly as the CoA has been changed.

Thanks @billcsho
