okay, it’s march 7, and virtually everyone i know has gotten in somewhere. I haven’t heard from ANYWHERE (except from middlebury - they deferred me.) I applied RD to eight other schools. Most say that the decisions are mailed around late March or early April, but it seems like lots of schools that say that send some letters before! Are accepted letters sent earlier than reject letters?

yeah, i have no letters except from UCSC and U. of Iowa. Seems ridiculous that we submitted apps in december and they take 3-4 months to decide, then only give us 3-4 WEEKS to visit all teh schools and decide where to go. I have 6 RD schools im still waiting for, ranging from as selective as amherst to as easy as seattle. You'd think they would figure they could get a higher yield if they notified sooner so people can decide if they like their campus. Whatever

almost always the trend is the harder the school is to get into the later they notify one of their decision. its most frustrating at times, but normally they send out all of their letters at the same time, hence, large volumes of mail, at times, but the fact that most of the public universities and easier privates notify earlier is good, cause thne normally you knkow tha tyou are going somewhere, instead of maybe just opening those rejection letters from that school that you took a chance and applied for, when now you get to knkow that you got in to that state school, before the ivies come in.

Some schools with uniform reply dates send out early writes to their very top applicants, but the bulk of their acceptances go out the same time their waitlists and denials do.

I agree with TheCity...I don't think two to four weeks is adequate time to evaluate all of the offers. You can evaluate scenarios, but it's not really the same at having the facts!
