hey guys. so i hear from last year's person that some schools send out early REJECTION letters for regular decisions. like, my friend got a rejection letter from yale university when people were getting their likely letters. is that still going around this year? do you know anyone who has gotten a rejection letter yet from regular decision schools?

and also, if i didnt get a likely letter from ANY schools, are my chances of getting into colleges very low? :(

like "hey you were SO bad we wanted to ruin the anticipation for u cuz u really never even had a chance to begin with. this un-likely letter is Yale's way of saying LULZ IN UR FACE KID!! with love, the dean of admissions."

I'd be surprised if it was an actual rejection letter, since Yale doesn't release their decisions until the end of the month. Do you know what the letter actually said?

It does happen. My friend got rejected from CalTech the first weekend of March last year. That was the very first letter he got and it was his dream school.

Maybe it was an early action rejection from Yale? Also, I think Case sends out decisions comparatively early, since I found out about a week ago.

Here's my observation:
I'm not sure about Caltech, but its admissions process is probably rolling. Lots of colleges send out acceptances and rejections at varying times in "waves."

However, Yale does NOT do this. They are bound by the Ivy League agreement to release official decisions at a mutual time (typically end of March/early April). The only things they send that bend this rule are "likely letters." They do NOT send so-called "unlikely" letters.

Your friend either misunderstood the letter they sent him/her, or he/she is lying to you.
