I was nominated for the Rogel Award of Excellence Scholarship. It's based on need and academic excellence, so is getting nominated just based on me having high financial aid or is this a nomination I should be proud of? Also, how selective is it? Covering all of non-met need with this scholarship definitely moves Michigan far up my list of my 3 colleges (will make 2 of 3 that meet full financial need).

Also, what other OOS scholarships are there? I've heard of $20k scholarships that they give out to OOSers sometimes, and has anyone heard back about nominations for other scholarships or if they've received other scholarships yet?

The scholarship section says that it exists for first year students, but not for continuing students, which could be up for interpretation. I don’t know if it means that continuing students cannot get it if they hadn’t gotten it their freshman year or that it exists for only first year students and then goes away. I’ve also seen a 2007 pdf for Umich scholarships and it says that it can be renewed up to 5 years, but since it’s 2007 I can’t be sure. So does anyone know for sure if it is renewable or not?
