Which school is better? I'm really interested in pre-med. I want to go to Hopkins Med School, so which one would prepare me better or increase my chances of getting in?

I want to go to a school where I will be academically challenged; however, I dont want it so hard that its not possible to maintain a high GPA. Also, I'm really interested in getting research opportunities.

I dont really care about financial cost, sports, social life, or campus.

If you know your major, investigate the individual professors in those departments, and find out what research they are up to right now. Is it on campus, or is it a cooperative project located off campus? Transportation to that site could be a deciding factor.

My daughter goes to UMBC. It has an excellent reputation in the biomedical sciences. They encourage students to participate in internships. In fact, one of my daughter’s friends (who is currently a freshman) started a research internship his second semester.

If sports and social life are not important to you, then I think UMBC would be a very good match.
