Plenty of kids at UM Amherst in CS, nursing and Business with similar stats to those. But yes they’re also potential Ivy stats.
has anyone else not heard back yet? im in state as well
We have not heard back but we are out of state. I wonder if that matters.
In state and have not heard either.
Do you think more decisions will come out today?
i would hope so. its a week day so i would assume their admissions offices are open meaning ideally they can release decisions. i could be wrong tho ofc
Not likely. People should really read through the Early Admissions thread to see how this worked. They released early admission in about 6 batches over a 6 week period. They did not dribble them out. Once a batch came out, it was at least a week or two before the next batch came out all at once.
I called them and they said they will be releasing decisions between now and mid March. So it could come at any time.
Thank you for the information! It makes sense that they would not release decisions so randomly. I guess we have a long wait ahead then.
Some schools do dribble them out - University of New Hampshire seemed to release constantly, and they didn’t send an email notification that there was a status change in the portal. We actually received an email about a scholarship before my son even knew he was admitted! But U Mass is not like that. It’s definitely in clumps and not every day.
I just got accepted into the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences!
Congrats! Did you get the notification today?
Thank you! Yes, I got the email regarding the status update like an hour ago.
Is your decision from the previous batch that was released a few days ago?
I don’t know, but I suppose it is.
When are the next batches coming out? Really nervous.
Also my stats: 3.5 unweighted GPA out of 4.0, 28 ACT, decent extracurriculars with a current job, in-state, steady grade improvement from freshman to senior year. What are my chances?
What are you majoring in? Some majors are more competitive then others.
Biochem/molecular biology
I would think your chances are good. Per UMass’ website the toughest programs are nursing (10% acceptance), Comp Sci (25%) and engineering and Isenburg business (30%).
My son has very similar stats (and planned major). Hopefully, we will hear something tomorrow.
