Hi! I just got accepted to UMass Amherst’s Isenberg School of Management. I was wondering what housing would be best for me. I would like to be pretty close to ISOM & would love a coed dorm. I also want a building that has some parties, but also can be quiet for studying time.
I believe “Central” is close to ISOM but I have never lived there. I have heard that both Southwest and Central are the only dorms that seem to have a decent amount of parties. I could recommend Northeastern, which I have lived in, but there seems to be mostly strong academic people there so few to no parties. PS- Central does also have a a fair amount of smoking. (Not tobacco) Hope this helps.
I am currently attending Isenberg, and have lived in Southwest for the last two semesters, so without bias, I would vouch for Southwest. Not only is it closer to Isenberg than that of Central, but there is also a ton of people in SW who are also majoring in business so group projects, get-togethers, and parties are almost no hassle when the time comes around. It’s also such a really great atmosphere since everything is so close - definitely a city-feel. And on top of all of that, we also home two of the best dining commons at the university, Berkshire and Hampshire.
If you are looking for a party, live in a tower in SW, but if you want best of both worlds, live in a low-rise where most people study during the day and party at night.
