Isenberg School of Management Question

My son was just accepted into Isenberg as a Freshman and is planning to request the ICE program at Melville, which I belive is an all Isenberg dorm. Although it's located in Southwest, my hope was that the type of people that get into Isenberg as Freshman are the type who focus on their studies. He's not a party animal, doesn't drink, and wants to be able to "learn" in an environment of folks like him. Rumor has it that Isenberg is basecally a small college within a large college and that it's easy to find and bond with pople of similar interests.

Are we crazy to think that life in Melville will not involves getting stoned and rioting in the parking loot after a game?

To be honest, I would request another living area. The environment and the people, unfortunately, does not suit well for any business students especially if they want to excel in their studies. That's my take on it.

p.s. riots and lot of other nonsense happens frequently in the Southwest area.

Just to add, I am a current ISOM student who is currently an RA at the Sylvan area (transferred from Northeast). I found Northeast to be one of the best areas to live because of its quiet nature and environment. Hope this helps.

Thanks

My understanding was that Melville was only for 1st year business students at Isenberg so I thought it would be a more studious bunch

Unfortunately, that is what we hope. However, it is no different than that of Washington or John Adams Tower (Crampton is known to be very reckless). In the end, Southwest does live up to its reputation as a wild bunch of kids who party etc.... On a side note though, there are the select few who are very talented who do live in the SW area--most of them usually end up moving out of SW eventually.
