UMass Amherst or Penn State Animal Science Major

I just got accepted into both of these colleges and am having a difficult time choosing which one to go to. I want to be a veterinarian and am not sure which college will prepare me better, although both are great choices. If anyone who has experience with either of these colleges can give me a run down it would help me with my decision. Thanks!

I’d give Penn State the nod for animal science and overall academics, but you can’t go wrong with either. Draw up a list of likes/dislikes for each school (e.g. football for Penn State, 5 College consortium for U Mass, etc.).

Go with the cheap(ish) in-state option if you live in PA or MA.

One isn’t going to do a better job over the other.

Are you instate for either school? What is your home state?

Have your parents said that they will pay the full costs of either school? How much will they pay?

If your parents won’t pay the full costs of your choice, how will the costs get paid?

I don’t think they could be in state cause Umass Amherst has not released decision for MA applicants. I took a pre-vet program at Umass and loved it! It was very hands on and i learned so much in just a week. I don’t know all that much about Penn State but Umass Amherst has a good connection with Tufts. Both are good schools

With UMass-Amherst, you have the benefit of the Five College Consortium, but Penn State is one of the “Public Ivies”. Both are good! Visit both and make a decision!

I am from New York, and full costs for either school will be covered.
