I’d imagine that there will be some variance in when letters will be delivered. Hopefully Coalition will be updated soon.
If ppl who received letters are willing to list test scores & GPAs & class rank, that would be helpful info, thanks.
To those who got the letter, how close are you to UMD?
So, if you get the letter, here’s the info everyone has requested from you on this thread so far, if you’d be willing to provide it:
State:
SAT:
ACT:
GPA (W):
GPA (UW):
Class rank:
You know, for the sake of collecting data. Thanks in advance for providing info.
UMD does Not send Scholarship emails. It is always plain mail.
They send out an email that says to expect something in the mail every time.
Let me re-state, no one will get an email saying that they have been awarded a scholarship of XXXXX dollars…
B/K invites are sent out before other scholarship awards because additional time is needed to schedule and coordinate the interview process.
@whenyoubelieve @FromMD thank you so much! Your responses were very helpful. Sorry for the late reply.
So, did the people who have received letters so far get a notification email in advance? I thought they said they did not.
I understand the desire to look at stats/data to reverse engineer the reasons for the invites, but I can guarantee that it won’t help. Like the invites to Honors College, the B/K invites are not clear cut. Most people find the invites perplexing.
I recall reading somewhere once that they don’t look strictly at accomplishments as much as potential for contribution to the university, whatever that means…
@Daisy50 @pickledginger No, my daughter did NOT get an email with a “hint” - nothing from UMd since she got confirmation on what “Admiited Students Day” she was signed up to attend. Snail mail was a complete surprise
@MESMES well if there is no email, would you mind alerting us when her portal updates? I’m assuming all recipients will have their portal updated at the same time. Congrats to her!
@daisy50 Sure thing. I am guessing that it will be a few days before the Portal updates to allow time for all the recipients to have gotten the snail mail - probably can’t roll that out based on proximity to College Park. And…Thanks - definitely humbled and proud at the same time! . :">
We live in MD and did not get a letter today or yesterday - I think we likely won’t get one. So much for superlative numbers and leadership.
Got a red envelope but was just the standard admissions letter and a bracelet. @mesmes did you get 2 red letters?
Got a standard admissions letter in the red envelope too, dated January 26. No mention of merit scholarships or BK.
I haven’t even received my admissions letter in the mail yet.
I can confirm from a friend that the BK invite is in a separate, larger red envelope from the standard admissions letter which he received along with his standard admissions envelope. The standard admissions letter is dated January 26th, while the BK Letter is dated February 6th. Since we are both in state, and I already received the normal admissions letter without the BK invite today, it’s probably safe to say I didn’t get in. The only hope I have right now is the discrepancy between the dates meaning that the second letter will arrive later, but that isn’t consistent with what my friend got.
Were there any people who only got the BK letter?
@Fukuro did your friend receive both the admissions letter and invite today
Some letters haven’t been mailed yet, but coalition has been updated with those who got it. I’m one of those people I still haven’t gotten the mail but it says I received the scholarship on coalition, so check there.
