At least they are being honest. This happened to my daughter at Ohio State, and they refused to admit it, then just deferred the whole missed batch to regular decision.
my S22 has been deferred at Ohio state as well. we are very unlucky
Sorry to hear that! Donât lose the hope, I know a kid got in CS last year for rolling admission.
I have been on hold for over two hours now⊠Same circumstance. No decision has been made even though the application was received by the deadline for early admission.
This is awful! Unbelievable. Is Governorâs School even a college transcript? Please escalate the case.
Best of luck
Unfortunately, she will not be considered for scholarships and Honors - this is where she wanted to see if she can get in, in order to get to ACES LLP⊠Again, we are very upset and confused and feel like we were cheated of the decision. There is little we can do at this point but plead the case. But more so for our own benefit of justice (how we see it) and do not expect the same outcome as we were before
After 2.5 hours of being on hold, they cut me off. Interesting customer service. I tried back and they said they would reopen after 3. Not impressed.
That is example of bureaucracy at large state u. Lots of bumps in road. At UMD, one must persevere in communicating with the powers that be.
Iâm curious how the admissions office would be aware of this summer program. Was it on your daughterâs Common Application ? You would think someone from the admissions office would contact you well in advance regarding this discrepancy. This is the problem with some big national universities. They just donât have the staffing for appropriate follow-up, but the student shouldnât be penalized for an obvious and small omission without receiving communication from the admissions office. Best of luck.
This really is unfair. They should have marked it as incomplete early on if they required the additional transcript.
Was this an issue at any of the other colleges your daughter applied to? Or for any other students that attended the program?
If you get a hold of the transcript, you may want to ask the GC to upload it just in case other colleges end up requiring it too.
Good luck! I am sure there are many schools that will be happy to have your daughter.
Same situation here , summer program transcript was required to be submitted.
Yes, she mentioned it on her application. We have not had this issue with anyone else (and we already got all the decisions)âŠ
Thank you! This is what got me - you clearly marked her application as completed on the website. So we are sitting tight, thinking we are OK. And then you would just tell the kid about this after all deadlines passed?
Being a Maryland Grad myself, this is on point. It is a huge bureaucracy and sometimes students are little more than a number.
I am sorry Are you planning on appealing?
Hoping they will consider , will try to appeal
Is it a bad idea to commit early if youâre hoping for some merit aid? Iâve heard at some colleges theyâll offer you less if they know your enrollment is already guaranteedâŠ
Congrats to everyone accepted! I was hesitant to post this, but I decided to put it out there for the benefit of future applicants, after all, I think thatâs the main purpose of these forums.
My niece was just accepted EA to UMD for fall 2022. Sheâs a good student with a 4.0 uw GPA in all honors classes with a few APâs mixed in. Our HS has over 23 AP courses (heavily weighted towards the sciences), my niece took 4 or 5, mostly histories. She has average ECâs. Sports, but no varsity participation. Several service clubs, but no leadership roles. Sheâs had a part-time job for the past 3 years. She applied TO since she was unable to break 1150 on her SATâs. She took them 3xâs and she took a prep course & studied. We are happy for her, but we were shocked that she was accepted. She and my daughter are very close so we are confident on her stats.
She applied to the business school but itâs unclear if she was admitted for business or if she was accepted to L&S. She was invited into an LLP, but I donât know which one.
UPDATE: She was not accepted to the business school, she was accepted to L&S and invited into Carillon Communities.
Our best guest is that she crushed it on the essays. Sheâs a passionate kid whose authentic voice mustâve come through in those essays. I think that she is an excellent example of why kids are applying to so many schools now that TO has become the norm. She wouldâve never applied to UMD if she had to submit test scores, but she didnât AND she got in! You just never know what AOâs are looking for.
even test-optional, 4.0 UW GPA is phenomenal, some people are just not super good test-takers.
Yes! She worked hard for that 4.0 GPA. My point is more about TO policies. She would not have applied to UMD if she had to submit test scores. Now sheâs been accepted. That change in the admissions policy has had a huge impact for many students. My niece is just one example.
