UMD Fall 2012 Application Document Tracking

Does anyone know anything about the UMD Fall 2012 Application Document Tracking site? My son applied mid-September and the confirmation email directed him to the link to check application status etc. Yet he said that when he goes to the link and logs in, he sees no documents listed. I know that it is two weeks until the Priority Deadline date, so he was hoping to see whether all required documentation has been received at this point. He did email UMD Admissions regarding this last week, however has not heard back from them. We do understand this is a very busy time for Admissions, but if anyone has any information regarding this, we would appreciate it. Thank you.

It’s really good that you are on top of this. My guess is that they will start updating the system once they have a bunch of apps in. It seems like this is a mostly (completely?) manual process and every year people have questions/problems and there are almost always delays in getting the system updated and current. I know that when D2 was going through the process, they didn’t show a counselor or teacher recommendation coming in, although both of the people had sent the info in with plenty of time to go. In the end, they both re-sent their recommendations just to be sure.

Hopefully everyone who is applying reads this…every year there are people who freak out in January to learn for the first time that UMD is missing something…it is worth keeping a close eye on this. Whether the doc came in and the system just didn’t get updated, or a doc was just mishandled and lost, it’s the student’s responsibility to make sure they have everything. If for some reason they are missing something…transcript, SAT scores, recommendations, etc. by November 1, it is NOT the end of the world. As long as the application is submitted in time, they allow for additional stuff to trickle in with no ill-effects to the students. If by mid-November they don’t show something that you KNOW they have, you should followup early and often.

As always … thank you for the very helpful information.
