UMD or Penn State

I need all the advice I can get....please help.

I am a senior at a public high school in Maryland.

I live in Maryland, and I applied to the University of Maryland School of Business. I have been accepted to UMD for Fall 2010, but not the business school, I have been placed into the school of letters and sciences. On the other hand, I have been accepted to Penn State University Park School of Engineering for the Fall 2010. I know for sure that I either want to major in a field of business or engineering, but I am not sure which one I prefer yet. I realize that both business and engineering are LEP programs at UMD. I really like both universities, but I like UMD more than Penn State. Do you believe it is worth the chance of going to UMD and hoping to be accepted to the business or engineering school after two years? Or do you think I would be better off just going to Penn State?

Financially you would be better off at Maryland.

I do not know how difficult it is to transfer into the Business School in Maryland. I would suggest that you post in the UMD sub-forum.

Penn State Engineering is a difficult program. It also would not allow time for you to explore business classes. You must really want to get thru the Engineering program to make it thru the “weeder” courses.

UMD may not be a guarantee to get into the major you choose, but I think it would provide you the initial flexibility to sample classes and be able to decide your major.
