I already have eight universities in the bag, out of which I am only considering three.

Namely, University of Maryland College Park, Texas A&M University, and Michigan Technological University.

Going for my bachelors in Computer Science, but I am in a mess.

I love UMD.
Dad wants me to go to TAMU.
Friend wants me to go to MTU with him.

I just cannot make up my mind.

MTU sure will give me 10-12k dollars worth scholarship (being a small school), but is it good for education?

Everyone please help me out. Which school is better from me considering every factor (education, living, safety, environment)?

I wouldn't go to MTU just because your friend wants you to go there with them. I'd say going to school just because a friend/ gf bf goest there is probably one of the worst reasons to go somewhere.

Now I don't know much about Maryland, but all of my friends that go to A&M really like it there. The biggest drawback is that A&M is an a rural part of Texas and sometimes my friends wish there was more to do.

Have you visited A&M? Are you excited about all their traditions? Do you have the personality to fit in there? I agree the town is mostly restaurants and grocery stores and pretty boring. I can't compare it to Maryland as I've never been there. I would agree on not going with the friend since you could easily grow apart or have a falling out and then you would be stuck there. Are you from Maryland and, if so, what made you apply to A&M?

Yeap I am from Maryland. Applied to Texas A&M just because its a good school. UMDCP is #11 on the Computer Science undergraduate rankings and TAMU is 16!

OK now MTU is offering me full scholarship. Tuition+Room+Books covered! Where as UMD and TAMU is offering no scholarships, and the annual fee is around $35,000!

Now what to do? Where to go?

We can do our bachelors from any university... right? Or does going to a better university matters?
If I go to MTU, and then plan on doing my Masters from an Ivy, say MIT, then my chances of getting in are low?

Congrats on the scholarship. Hard to pass that up. I was just asking about TAMU since the student body is relatively conservative and they really get into their traditions and sports. So my liberal daughter who doesn't like sports wouldn't even consider going there. I'm sorry but I don't know anything about MTU. Hopefully someone else will reply about it. Does it offer the academics and environment you were looking for? You could always ask MTU for a list of where the recent graduates have gone to see where they are going for graduate study. Good luck!
