Does UMich give you a chance to update your essays if you get deferred to RD?
Sunny and 40s in Chicago! Positively paradise!
No, they don’t.
Out of curiosity, which schools do?
No idea. First time parent of IS so relying on these forums for info.
No but since you want to write more:memo: here are the rules if your not accepted EA
This week - it’s above freezing every day. In January.
It might snow any given day Nov thru April… but you never know. I can say we don’t worry about earthquakes, hurricanes or mountain slides.
I am not aware of any school that’ll let you update essays after deferral.
Don’t forget floods, fires and pestilence.
Two years ago, my son was deferred after submitting EA (HS class of 2021). Michigan invited him (I think all deferred candidates) to submit an additional essay. It was a shorter word count than the original app. Essentially to express your deepest desires to attend UofM. It was not required to stay in the process…but you were invited to do so.
If the process has changed - I do not know. Many things have changed in the past two years.
That’s a LOCI. Since at least the past two years UMich lets you upload one after deferral.
Michigan never really wanted anything else except for midterm grades but only when they asked for it on some students. But high schools kept telling students that didn’t get accepted EA to write letters of continued interests or students assumed it would help. Michigan basically got so many that they came up with their own system for it.
Other schools like Georgia Tech let you add sublemental information and send in your midterm grades if not accepted EA . All their EA are put in Rd also. Same process.
Just send in what your asked for. Not everyone will be asked for additional grades. Some will. Don’t send in anything extra.
Don’t schools send semester grades to all colleges students applied to, whether early or regular? It’s been three (long) years, and I don’t remember. That might have just been the mid-term grades from November.
Depends on the school so no. My sons school sent all grades including midterms to all schools they applied to. It was just easier for them I guess but it also signaled to the students to be on their game senior year.
Does anyone know if decisions come out next Friday 20th, someone mentioned to me?
No idea, but our child’s rep said “not the first or last Friday of January.” Others have said that previous years have been last Friday.
Thanks well based on that info sounds like they just might b next week
If I was a betting man would say Jan 27th… Of course… I have been wrong before
No one knows, but Michigan’s Admissions Office. But the last two years, since they changed to January EA release, the date has been the last Friday of the month.
FWIW, the #1 forum on the CC website for 2022, in terms of posting activity, is the Michigan Forum. Why, you may ask?
Because: a) Michigan never announces their decision dates in advance (maybe an hour or two or three on Twitter a couple times), though Ross BBA typically does, and b) posters post questions about the decision dates and then we debate them.
You forgot the illusive portal conspiracy theories that will emerge in about a week… Lol
