@tryinmybest You most likely have a better chance than I do.
@AcceptableName I’m a current freshman so I’m not an admissions expert but I sure hope you are on campus next year. Go Blue!
^^thanks guys, hopefully it will work out
@96blue Go Blue!
At my school, where we send maybe 5 kids to UM each year said that the average ACT score for our school was a 28, so it definitely varies by school
@rjp456 The average ACT of your school was 28? Or the average ACT of those that gets in Michigan at your school is a 28?
Sorry, average that gets into Michigan
A little less than one day! If I don’t post my results, that will most likely mean I was deferred.
Thank you @TooOld4School and @billcsho for chancing me. I am proud to say that I have been accepted!
Congratulations! Hope you choose Michigan in a few months. You will love Ann Arbor!
Congratulations @AcceptableName !
@TooOld4School I will attend without a doubt, but I feel than I will be unprepared for the course work compared to everyone else. Most Computer science students will have already taken AP calc in high school to prepare for math, but I have never taken a calculus course…
You can prepare yourself by taking a Calc community college class over the summer or a class from Michigan virtual high school. Also, there are lots of free online java and python resources to get started for CS. Just plan on taking calc first semester otherwise. (try to select honors!)
@TooOld4School Lol select honors? There is no way I will take honors calc without a previous calc course! Also, I have already taken Java and C++ Programming at my local CC. If I do decide to take calc 1 over the summer at my local CC, can I retake it again at UMich for a grade?
Actually, some research conducted at UM shows that students perform better in honors classes than regular even with the same abilities. Glad you have already taken some languages, you will need C++ for Operating systems classes . You should probably start a conversation with academic advising about which specific classes to take.
Hi
Congrats! Each person got admitted for a reason. If it is not score/GPA, it got to be somthing unique.
@billcsho Thanks!
@billcsho Thanks!
I was hoping I’d see good news for you @AcceptableName. Congrats on becoming a wolverine!!
