UMich Fall 2013

Hey who's going there this fall? Trying to gauge the number of Singaporeans going. Personally I don't know a second person going there =P

I'm doing engineering and applying for housing now yay.

Hi xenide, interested to know your stats, mind sharing? Thanks!

I was accepted into Fall 2013! But I’ve deferred my enrollment to next year since I still have a year of NS to finish :/

I may be heading there if I don’t hear back from Vanderbilt or NYU soon lol
in any case, what do you guys think of UMich vs Vanderbilt vs NYU?

Hi. Is it compulsory for applicants from Singapore to take TOEFL(Applicants can be both local and international students) if they wish to apply UMich? Thanks~

@Williamyao0409, not compulsory for Singaporeans to take TOEFL if you’ve taken a GCE Cambridge Exam in English, most countries recognise our English standards in education. SAT reasoning tests are sometimes used for english exemptions for non-native speakers.

Hi. Thank you for your answer. I come up with this question because I did not see Singapore appearing in the list of countries that can be exempted from TOEFL if SAT CR>600. Besides, I got C5 in O Level(I know it is not good…=() and am currently in a top JC. =D

Hi xenide ,

I am waiting for my result as a transfer applicant . Since the resources do not say much about financial aid for international student , how much do you receive ? Could you share how much is the total cost for your after all those funding ?

thanks

I highly doubt UMich offers financial aid for international applicants.

Financial aid hurts your chance of acceptance. I’m currently at UM and I don’t think any Singaporean is receiving financial aid. School fees, housing, and all the other essential costs will come up to around 57k USD. That’s assuming you don’t eat out, don’t join any clubs, don’t do anything social. Personally, I spent around USD$80K last year.

Dammit, that kinda $$ can pay the down payment for a condominium.
