I am pretty sure they are based on the space and number of applicants of each individual degree program. At least this is how it is done at every university I have looked into, so unless UMich is doing something special then that is how they are doing it.
I don’t mean to turn this into a UIUC thread but do you guys mind sharing why you are transferring from there @Yuxuan_Jiang and @BestOfLuckYall ? Reason I ask is because I applied there and it is my first choice lol.
Why is the total transfer applicants for Fall 2021 in Umich database is different than their website requirement guide? like their website indicates that they received approximately about 5900 applicants. Their databse indicates that they received 4900 applicants?
If you search Umich common data set you can find out.
For their website you can search Umich transfer requirements and scroll down to find the transfer guide.
That ~40% admission rate makes me kind of nervous… When you lose against those kinds of odds it’s a little bit more frustrating, in my opinion.
so i’m having some problems getting my college and high school transcripts sent?? for some reason my college one is on common app but its not in their database and either ways, how much do you think this will affect my chances cause my app is still incomplete??
I’m not completely sure, but I can tell you that I decided to send my high school transcript a few days late (just for good measure) and they said it was fine. A high school transcript, however, isn’t required. So, I’m not sure how they would deal with a late college transcript. I would find a way to contact them and make sure it’s OK so you don’t possibly waste time.
I mean, it’s a pretty self-selecting group of transfer applicants. From what I’ve seen, most people on here at least seem to be pretty strong applicants so I wouldn’t be yourself up if you don’t get in. It’s a tough application pool. Best of luck.
Yeah, you’re right. Hard not to get too focused on just the numbers sometimes, ha.
Has anybody who’s applied later in January heard back yet?
I think they have already sent out acceptance letters to students with very strong backgrounds, and rejection letters to unqualified students (gpa < 3.3, missing documents, poor essays, low credits, late submissions, etc.). For the rest of us borderline applicants we may have wait until late march or early April, and it’s about a 50/50 chance, some make it some do not. That’s how it goes every year.
Has anyone heard back from CoE yet?
Nope. We may sadly have to actually wait until the end of March…
They typically send out decisions Mondays and Tuesdays so it’s possible we could still get decisions in February, just it is only likely to happen Monday or Tuesday unfortunately
Yeah, I was admitted on January 17th into CoE
I see you moved your application from winter 2022 to fall 2022. Did you apply for this winter and not get in? I’m just curious, since your stats are very good.
Yeah, I was rejected in the Winter
Wow, that’s really surprising to me. I’m glad you got in this time though!
You being denied the first time makes me nervous, but I’ll have to wait and see how it turns out.
Got accepted at 3pm!!! Good news is coming you guys!!! Good luck to everybody, this has been such an encouraging place
