UMich Fall 2022 Transfer Thread

Congratulations, my friend! Did you apply to LSA or CoE? If you have the time, I’d love to hear more about your application. In the meantime, though, celebrate!

CONGRATS! When did you submit your application?

Thank you friends! Totally shocked - an hour earlier I was sulking over how long we’d probably wait for a decision to be released.

I submitted my application Wed 01/26 and completed the checklist Friday 01/28. Received an update today 02/17 at 3pm.

Non-traditional student (23 year old girl), which seems to be the minority on here. Something challenging happened at home my 3rd year of university in 2018 and I ended up leaving with no plans to return any time soon. Turned my internship from college into a full time job until earlier last year.

Volunteered plenty, picked up some new hobbies (Small boat sailing! Painting!), went back to CC on the MI Future for Frontliners scholarship. Took a chance and applied to UMich. I hope my story reassures somebody out there who is also refreshing this/portal/Reddit transfer forums 50 times a day.

80 something credits coming in; previously studied Biomedical Physics, applied for LSA Stats
In-State University: 3.6 (less than desirable grade in chem, go figure)
In-State CC: 4.0
Full-time work at an engineering company in various roles since 2016; volunteer tutor; some work in non-profits.
Admittedly nothing stellar or special about my record. I think my essays were the strongest piece of my application.

You are all inspiring, highly motivated, obviously competitive candidates that will be at home at UMich. Good luck to everyone!!

Congrats! When did you complete the checklist?

same day as i submitted my app, 1/27, had everything submitted prior to my app

Thanks!

I emailed the admissions office early this morning. They said applicants would be notified randomly. But I guess applicants with the most transfer credits are viewed firstly. Moreover, notifications are sent almost every day.

Did you hear that notifications sent basically daily from an admissions officer? Frankly UMich officers always give vague answers lol so idk how I feel about it beside literally check the portal every workday.

Congrats!! How many credits did you have going in?

Yes, AOs said notifications can be sent every day, but I’m unsure if that’s really the case haha.

It feels like many applicants have already received their notification. My friend told me many of his high school classmates have been notified.

so if they downloaded your transcript that means they start to look at your application, right?

no, that should just mean that they downloaded it to add it to your applications, tells you that they received it

When it comes to high schoolers that already been notified that’s likely for Early Action, which is only offered to first years, they get their notifications if they got in very early (Feb 1st I think), accepting new undergrads and transfers are directly independent
