Maybe this year is very competitive. They have a huge amount of competitive applicants. Last year they have a median GPA of about 3.8. This year may be higher.
For everyone that is considering sending updates on awards/activities for the fall 2022 application: I sent an email update yesterday, and today I got a response thanking me for my email but saying that since it is passed the deadline, my application can’t be updated with the awards/activities. Just letting everyone know that admissions are probably locked in with how things are going now!
Also— this year is weird for transfers, likely because last year was weird for freshman admissions due to COVID. UMich had a record number of applicants, so it is likely a lot of those who got waitlisted/rejected are trying to transfer right now. It’s a tough situation, but the decision from umich doesn’t define any of us, we are all great applicants and if they had enough space I’m sure we’d all get in
I totally agree with this. I was waitlisted when I applied as a senior so I’m trying again LOL In my final decision letter, they told me to transfer.
Thanks for your information!!!
If I remember correctly, I was told something similar. I guess a lot of people actually took their advice and now admissions are still rather competitive this year (like it was last year).
Anybody el;se have the “withdraw your application” button disappear?
Does the screen ever change if you have a response ?
That means your decision is coming out in an hour or two
Good luck!!!
My friend gets rejected today. His rejection letter says that his transferrable credits are not enough.
This thread is scaring me. Sounds like they’re being very tough/picky this year.
Wish everyone the best!
Do you know what school he applied to?
Did u hear?!
Lsa
I do think they will consider transferable credits. On my friend’s rejection letter, it says: " Because you do not have enough transferable credits to be at Junior standing, we also considered your record from high school… The quality of academic work you demonstrated last semester was impressive, and it was noted in the evaluation of your application. If your interest in attending the University of Michigan continues, you should continue to build upon the strong academic performance you have shown and update your application for next consideration for the next available term. By the way, his GPA is 4.0, and majoring in Economics.
Most of the rejection letters will tell you to continue to apply. That’s just their common rejection letter.
If you don’t mind me asking, what was their high school GPA? It seems like your friend might have been rejected because of their high school record, which would’ve been ignored if they had more credits (at least that is what it sounds like from the email). LSA transfer website is pretty clear that they draw strongly from high school the further away you are from 54ish credits.
3.9/4.0
Damn, that is really surprising. Who knows what is going through transfer admissions heads right now
